Not a startup idea. Not a market opportunity. JOBVIAN was born out of a real job search, real frustration, and one developer who decided to stop waiting for a solution and build it.
I was in the middle of a job search. Sending out applications every day, spending hours tailoring my CV for each role, trying to get the wording right, trying to hit the right keywords — and what did I get back?
Copy-paste rejections. Generic. Cold. No feedback, no signal — just silence followed by a template. I knew my experience was relevant. I knew I was qualified. But something between my CV and the hiring manager was getting in the way.
I started looking for a tool. Something that would take my CV, look at a specific job description, and actually rewrite it to match — not just highlight keywords, not just give generic tips, but intelligently tailor the content for that exact role.
I couldn't find it. There were plenty of tools that did parts of the job — resume builders, keyword checkers, ATS scanners — but nothing that pulled it all together the way I needed. Nothing that understood context. Nothing built for the candidate, end-to-end.
So I did what any developer would do: I built it myself.
I built JOBVIAN for myself. To make my own job search easier, less exhausting, and less demoralising. And it worked.
But somewhere along the way, a thought kept coming back to me: “If I needed this, other people need this too.” Every job seeker goes through the same cycle — the same rejections, the same manual tailoring, the same wondering whether their CV even made it past an algorithm. I wasn't unique in that struggle.
That was the moment JOBVIAN stopped being a personal project and became something bigger. The first step of a real journey — to give every job seeker the edge they deserve, without needing a career coach, a PR person, or hours to spare.
